Orbit DAC family:
Zvok Orbit DAC - C model displayed on picture

Orbit DAC comes in three variations A, B and C
They all share both coaxial and optical inputs and would work with up to 24bit 192KHz for Coax and 24bit 96KHz rates for optical input. The device is powered by a 9V DC either from battery or power supply and has an ultra low power consumption. The A model is meant for home use and has a fixed RCA stereo output. Models B and C have also differential outputs. Every output is powerful enough to drive monitor loudspeakers or final amplifiers. It can couple easily with solid state and tube (pre)amplifiers. The C model however has also a top quality analog volume control knob. These converters are not toys with buttons and lights allowing you to set all sorts of filters and loudness. We believe that solving problems with complicated methods isn't the right direction. Orbit DAC is the proof. No processors, no digital computing, no hassle in signal chain. They simply convert the incoming stream of digital audio data into an analog signal in the most pure way possible. Once converted, the analog audio signal path is free of any nonlinear element such capacitors or inductors. But there is more. ... .... . . . .. The Orbit DAC has 2 ground planes for analog and digital signals separated. The inputs are electrically isolated from the PCB board, which is designed for no coupling of digital signals into the analog part. More over, each section has a separated power supply and we are proud that the complete design consumes about 1 Watt. And yes, lots of user power supply the Orbit DAC converter with a simple battery. Some prefer a floating switching power supply since the fine regulation is done onboard. It thus resembles to the operation of a turntable cartridge. Floating on the gourd level of the amplifier avoiding ground loops in your system ! All outputs are buffered, so there is no need for anything else. We can guaranty that you listen to the very original recording as it was done without any additional coloration or noise contributions. The OrbitDAC works straight out of the box with any SPDIF coax or optical source. That include CD / DVD / Blue ray players/ Apple TV or other multimedia players supporting this standard. Most PC but specially MacBook Pro users will benefit from the optical connection avoiding asynchronous USB. We intentionally do not provide an USB input as this can be achieved with the use of an external USB to SPDIF card. We put our effort in the converter. |
There has been quite some confusion about the available models. Hence we put the Orbit DAC lineup into prospective in the table below.
OEM version comes with either SPDIF or Optical input upon your request.
